Some repairs fail before the first capacitor is touched — because the diagnostic signal you need is buried under a BGA. On certain Xbox 360 Corona boards, that is the story of POST_OUT and the post-fix adapters used to reach it.

Why POST codes still matter

When a 360 RRODs or fails to boot cleanly, secondary symptoms are noisy. A post code path can distinguish:

GPU/CPU bring-up failures
Memory init problems
Southbridge / power sequencing issues
“It’s just the DVD drive” red herrings

Without that visibility, people shotgun reflow GPUs and call it a day — sometimes luck, often not.
